Why would my ISP attempt to initiate a chat with me to tell me my e-mail is broken when it is not? Why would my isp choose to contact me on my laptop rather than my son's desktop, which happens to be the last computer I used to check that e-mail? We share a router, so how would the isp make a distinction? Does this sound odd to any of you? I didn't respond because the e-mail isn't broken, and if it is... wouldn't my isp be the cause?
Thoughts anyone?

Is the IM application specific to your ISP?
Whatever you do, do not give whomever is asking your password. Personally, I would ignore them or call your ISP and let them know what you are experiencing.

| 2. Yes, it was specific to my ISP... |
|
Oh, I'm ignoring it...
I guess a better question would be... what the hell would be so important in my life that someone would target me specifically, on MY laptop, just to steal a password? That is what concerns me.
Actually, it seems sort of lame now that I think about it.
Thanks :hi:

| 3. Sounds like when the cable company called to tell me my TV color settings were off |
|
I told the nice man where I lived, and he came and picked up my TV and took it back to the cable company shop where he would fix it.
Come to think of it, where the hell is that guy? That was weeks ago.

| 4. Well, if the e-mail account in question hadn't already been hacked into... |
|
it might have raised my eyebrows a little more. Why anyone would want to read nasty e-mails from my family is beyond me. Pretty bold though. :eyes:
