| Is everyone else getting tons of spam/phishing emails supposedly from the IRS ? |
|
The typical one states one of the people on my form is deceased (!!!) and wants you to click a link.
I get at least one, if not a dozen of these stupid things a day. Deleted immediately if they don't go to spam folder first.

| 1. Yes, it's been going around. My mom got tricked by one last night - |
|
She was tired, and with Dad having recently passed, she had been deluged with all sorts of official correspondance over the past month and a half, and wasn't thinking straight. He was the one who used the computer the most, and it came on his AOL account. Now, her computer is stuck in a malware process loop and she's got to call someone out to clean it up.
Hopefully it's just a massive phish for credit card info and not something more serious. The guys at work have been saying they've been getting them over their yahoo and g-mail accounts.

| 2. I think I received one of these emails |
|
It wasn't from the IRS (i'm not in USA) but a fake purportedly from an online payment regulatory agency. The link on the email directed to a document on the web called xxxxxxxx.pdf.exe - can't remember the name of the document.
Maybe time to reinforce NEVER click on anything exe unless you are installing a program.
