.
I didn't phrase my original question correctly . . . instead of requesting information from DUers about a freebie "rss newsreader," I should have requested information about a:
freebie "rss feed reader or aggregator" for my IE web browser running XP, without spyware, adware or other nasties.Hopefully, this time I am articulating my question correctly in order to get the result I think I want.
What I am looking to get is a freebie rss reader running in my Internet Explorer to obtain rss feeds from blogs and other rss sources. Ideally, I would want the rss reader to have an additional option of running a selected rss source as a ticker or scroll incorporated into my IE browser, as well as entire pages in my IE browser windows. Is there a tried-and-true freebie open source program that's safe and wouldn't be running tags or ads or such? Am I shooting too high?
Is it also possible to get such a rss reader without having to go through MSFT's .NET framework?
Are there any DUers that want to get into this fray? <chuckle>
Oh, come on, you know you want to tell me your knowledge and expertise. It's appreciated.
And thank you for those who've given their views already.

list of "news aggregators" but again I don't know what's great and what isn't: HELP!
