Remember, Matilda, if you install Firefox it doesn't mean you can't use Internet Explorer. You can use either one. I have my default browser set to Firefox, but of course have to keep Internet Explorer available in case I ever get brave and go do my Microsoft Updates --- only because Microsoft won't let you go there with Firefox.
You can also choose to set your "default" browser to be either IE or Firefox, but just click on the Firefox browser or the IE browser when you want to go online with whichever one you want.
The settings in Firefox can be adjusted too and it might have been just a settings problem you had and not the Firefox program itself.
In closing since I'm here--- I also listen to an online internet show on Saturdays called "Castellini on Computers" or :
http://www.helpmerick.comYou can call in questions during the show and they prefer to hear from the beginning to intermediate users and avoid getting into computer-geek stuff.
I also use their website to find links to places to get stuff that they trust as safe, and general plain-language advice on how to doo lots of stuff.
