I recently did an install of the free AVG on a friend's laptop running Windows XP. Initially the install ran fine and all seven AVG components were displayed and showing as updated.
A day later, only three of the components displayed, yet on checking, all seven appeared to be running.
Anyone have a notion here? My friend is on a dial-up connection, so it's a bear to download and reinstall.

View --> Components Click on a component in the menu that is NOT being displayed A configuration dialog will pop up Click on the General tab Make sure that 'Display component' is checked Make sure that 'Only when a faulty condition exists' is unchecked Click OK button Repeat all above as necessary
See if that helps you.

| 2. Been there, done that. Thanks, though. |

That's the aggravating thing. They all show as working (show in background anyway), they're all checked to display. Wondering if maybe it's all an illusion created by the laptop...:)

We tried. My next big suggestion would be to uninstall and then reinstall AVG. Sorry.
