Recommended wet/ canned cat food

I feed my cats dry cat food but like to give them some canned food as a treat. They like a few Fancy Feast varieties but I wanted to try some of the brands that are not supposed to have any by-products. Today I gave them some Natural Balance (the Dick Van Patten brand) and they wouldn't eat it. A couple of days ago, I tried another premium brand and they wouldn't eat it.
Any recommendations for tasty but nutritious canned cat food?

1. Try "Merrick's".

My cats like it and it is the only wet food they will eat.

7. I feed my cats only Merricks. Excellent. Human Grade.

(When I am old and destitute, and have to eat it, it won't be such a terrible thing. :D )

I feed my dog Merricks Canned as well.

I also feed them Wellness kibble.

8. Mine love PetGuard which is a very good quality, and still fairly low

priced food. They also like Lick Your Chops (I think that's the name) which is about the same quality and price. All "human" grade ingredients in both. Hell, some of them smell downright tasty to me :P.

9. Wellness.

We only feed it in emergencies because the normal diet for our kitties is raw meat and bones. They can't tolerate the grains and veggies in most pet foods. Also, the pet food companies don't want you to know it, but dry food is very hard on a pet's kidneys. Here's a good link: www.catinfo.org.

The price isn't too bad and it's available at Petsmart. A lot of the brands mentioned here are not available anywhere around where I live. If I can make the one hour trek to Petsmart once a month, I can feed my Tortie girls something better than Kit-n-Kaboodle (which they love, of course!)

My other question is: Is dry food alone ok? I've tried every variety of canned food and they just don't go for it. They don't even like any of the 8,000 varities of treats I've tried! I suppose the "good" canned food might be more palatable to them, though. And they should also eat canned food, right?

12. My cats are on Blue Buffalo trading cards in the dry food packages:

Wet food is best because it contains more water and less grains, and is therefore closer to their natural diet. However, if your cat prefers dry, making sure he/she has fresh water (a pet fountain is good) and a high quality, human grade food that doesn't contain corn or wheat will go a long way toward keeping them healthy. My favorite dry food is Innova Evo, which doesn't contain any grains.
