1. Charley looks like he's filling out

Looks like he's enjoying his new home all the love he get there. Pad Thai looks like he's really enjoying having a brother to play with! Great Pics!

2. Charley is getting fat

I know I need to curb his food, but I was hoping he would slow down naturally. I hardly have the heart to deny him knowing how starved he was before.

9. Start controlling it now. That's how Oscar wound up

weighing 21 lbs. Now he's on restricted calorie and begs for food all the time. I'm going to try to switch him and his brother Tiny to raw food in the very near future. I think that cats (like Charley and Oscar) who were abandoned have starving kitty syndrome and they will never get enough. We need to find a way to convince them that they have enough. Maybe giving them more love and affection (and, in my case, a better diet) will help fill that hole of need.

Your cats look healthy and happy. Did Charley get the Cat-Bird's Seat on the sofa? He looks like he's thinking he pulled a number on Pad Thai.

10. Yeah, that's a good point

I'm trying to introduce them to raw food, which Pad Thai loves, but Charley does not. I need to restrict the dry food too, which I'm trying to do.

Actually Pad Thai ended up oneupping Charley. Pad Thai landed in the Christmas tree as I was decorating during this whole episode!

Pad Thai is slender and etheral, Charley is a mack truck kind of cat. It really is cute to see them playing all the time. They talk alot too.

8. We had two cats for a while that would roly-poly

Always at 3am. And loudly.

My S.O. would go out into the living room and bellow:
"HAT! and GLOVES! I am NOT kidding, you two - you're on your way to becoming clothing!!!!"

They would stop for the time, but do the same thing again the next morning.

11. My boys learned how to roly-poly quietly

They used to roll around and make a lot of noise; when I heard them, I used to try to break it up. They figured out that if I don't hear them, I won't break them up so now they roll around without making noise.

And, I compared the pics of Charlie when he had not moved in, to these, and it appears that you have worked miracles with him. He is a gorgeous boy as is his 'sibling' Pad.

God, I love cats. They are so intelligent, and, at the same time, they are so innocent and so trusting when they know they have found a human they can trust.

Dogs are easier to understand ( I love them so!) in the sense that they are pack animals, and their owner does become the pack leader to them.

But, how do we become our cats' leaders? Do you think it is entirely appetitive?

I don't because I have heard so many stories about cats that were fed adequately, but did not adapt to their owners, or their owners did not adapt to them (our shelters are full of them). I think that cats look for love and compatibility the same as humans do.

I have also read that cats are smarter than dogs in problem solving experiments...not too surprising since they are usually much smaller than dogs. They need to rely on their minds much more so than a large dog, for instance, who could rely on his brawn.

But, having had a few dogs throughout my life, they are just as intelligent, but in a different way.

I think we are all blessed to have these amazing creatures agree to live with us and to love us unconditionally in the process.
