| having increasing trouble with the border collie and cat |
|
Our border collie, who was a rescue dog that spent two years in a shelter prior to my nephew taking it and then two years later passing it off to me because of issues with toddlers, just HATES one of our cats. It's getting worse, I think, and we had a scary incident tonight.
I'm a bit worried about this. I know it is very common with border collies.

| 1. I don't know. I'd say consult the dog whisperer. What would be |
|
his approach. How would he handle it. dc

| 4. Now I remember. The dog whisperer did an episode with a border |
|
collie. If you can get into the video archives, you may be able to find it. I remember him saying that the border collie naturally wants to herd. So somehow you have to satisfy that need. I know they can be amazingly trained. I have seen them where the whistle gets them to go one way or another. Very intelligent dogs, but they need to have their work ethic utilized. dc

| 5. I was going to make a comment similar to that |

The Border Collie is trying to herd the cat. Cats don't want to be herded. The BC needs to have his herding instinct directed elsewhere.
