Bay State Animal Cooperative in Norwood, MA. I, thanks to my family, have a new kitty. She was a rescue kitty from an environment that was not suitable for any animal. She is beautiful, one year old female. Cute as a button and very friendly.
I have waited for years to adopt a kitty, the memories of my prior pets kept interfering. My kids took the initiative and kept looking for a kitty they knew I would love.
Emmie, her new name, is sweet, very friendly and obviously well cared for by the shelter since she was rescued in November. I feel I am very lucky. I got her at Pet-smart in Brocton. The ladies running the adoption event were very nice. They even checked my references! I think that is a goods idea. I signed my life away about things like vet visits(which I would do,anyway), no de-clawing,(cruel) no outside and other requirements. I am glad for their concern.
Makes for a happy day!

| 1. I'm so happy for you, PR! There's nothing better in life than a furry friend. |

Last October I adopted a scrawny, little guy from the humane society. He was a scraggly, pathetic thing and all I can figure is he spent the first 5 months of his life in a cage and really hated the dry food he was fed. He was weak and couldn't run around or jump or act like a normal kitten. For the first 6 weeks he refused to do much but lay on the bed and purr. Now, however, all that's changed. He's been living the good life with wet food and human food treats and has more than doubled in size. Suddenly he went from kind of a sickly guy to a barrel of energy who spends his days racing around, playing ball and tormenting the old cat. His greasy, matted hair is now full and fluffy and he's got a tail that looks like a dust mop. He's a real lover boy, too. In the morning I can count on him to wake me up with a kiss on the forehead. He purrs almost nonstop. Maybe it's just me, but life always seems better with a cat.

| 3. Wonderful. You will not be sorry. Prior pets are always with us too. |

But I know those memories make the decision to "replace" them hard. They really are never replaced though, are they? Good luck with Emmie.

How wonderful!!!!! We adopted our puppy back in July. My first pet in 18 years! The loss of my cats so many years ago kept me in fear of getting close to another furry love for a very long time. But I am so glad to have adopted our little sweetness (now 9 months old).

:woohoo:
Good rescue organizations are a bit hard to find. It's generally a good sign if they want references and have a real contract.
Celebrating with you! Rescues are awesome furkids.
