they are 4 weeks today and we have had them for 2 weeks. This is my second set to foster and i kept the first two. To those who do this regularly, how do keep from getting so attached?

:D In the past I fostered grown dogs. Typically the dogs had so many issues (neglect & behavioral problems) that I was ready for them to leave when the time came.

which is a blessing and a curse. But look what good you're doing. Someone who adopts the kittens will thank you and hopefully keep in touch.

| 5. I have fostered 3 dogs, ended up keeping only 1 :) |

The first foster was hard because I had no input in the decision as to where she would be placed. I felt powerless and really frustrated. The second time I fostered I got to see the forever home's application and speak with them several times, it made the process SO much easier. It was hard to say goodbye to my foster boy, but I knew he was headed to a wonderful family.
The third foster is another story. She was surrended to rescue because of housebreaking issues. She wasn't here for 3 hours before I noticed she had a bladder infection. The poor girl also had bladder stones and needed surgery to remove them. By the time she recovered from her surgery and we got her diet adjusted to keep the Ph of her urine in line, my son was totally in love with Libby so we adopted her. Now I am at my limit, we are only allowed to have 4 adult animals at any time (I have 3 dogs and a cat) so my fostering days are over for now.

| 6. we do fostering for greyhounds |

my partner tends to get more attached than me. I look at it as "baby sitting" someone else's pet.
doesn't make "giving up" the foster critter any easier -- but I take some comfort in the critter going to a good (hopefully forever) home

its so hard for me not to get attached. I guess it would be easier if i had input as to what kind of home they will go to. I'm sure as time goes by and the more i foster, it will get easier. Thanks guys :)
