More on changes of signs (not!) and the 13th sign

Probably by now you've been inundated with information about the brouhaha about the astrological signs.

Here's my Jungian/astrological take on it.

Now that we've all got precession down pat, I'm glad to learn more about the history of Ophiuchus.

The ancient merging of Scorpio with Ophiuchus into one mythology/archetype is an extremely helpful bit of information. It also explains Scorpio's traditional positives, since that sign is one of extremes and a struggle between diachotomies.

Scorpio is my Ascendant and it's been a major influence all my life. I'm grateful to know now that Ophiuchus has been part of that influence, as well, and it helps answer many questions I've pondered over the years.

Yes, I do think that the added influence of Ophiuchus might be the thing that adds the 3 levels to Scorpio - the scorpion/snake of unconscious feelings, the eagles wings that give us insight, and the phoenix's rebirth as the beginning of Sagittarius, which gives us new hope and insight.

That's really helpful. Looking back, I can see so much of that influence in my life.

A close personal friend of mine is a retired astrologer, has used archetypes and Jungian interpretations a great deal in her work and writing. I've learned so much from her over the years and sent your blog to her because I know she'll be interested. I certainly am.
