Freedom comes at a price. Egyptians are in the streets fighting for it now but how many lives will be lost in the struggle and what will come next? Some may be afraid of change but it’s inevitable, especially these days. North Africa is changing with one government falling in Tunisia and another about to fall in Egypt. The recent conjunction of philosophical Jupiter and revolutionary Uranus may have set these shifts into motion and another shockwave comes with the Aquarius New Moon joined with energetic Mars on February 2. This Sun-Moon conjunction is further electrified by an edgy 45-degree semisquare by Aquarius’ rebellious ruling planet Uranus. Surprises can be anticipated on personal and collective levels and are best met with flexibility and a willingness to explore unconventional options. Holding on too tightly only increases pressure until something explodes.
Nations, like individuals, have birth charts. The problem, though, is determining what moment to use for the event. Egypt’s roots, for example, go back to antiquity and are beyond the limits of precise historical timing. Fortunately, astrologer-historian Nicholas Campion has done extensive research on national charts and published “The Book of World Horoscopes” in 1988 to address this issue. In the case of Egypt he presents birth charts of its independence from Great Britain and of the re-establishment of the Egyptian Kingdom in 1922.
