we need to get off of our ASSES.
You said it perfectly. It's clearly Corporate America vs all the rest of us. That's it. And they feed the great teat of the naive American Public through the Fix Network. Period.
Thanks for posting that.
I am becoming more OPTIMISTIC lately, I think we're just too strong and connected. We're not gonna put up with all this BS. Out with the repthugs, asap!

"Privatization" should be one of the most frightening words in our language. FIGHT BACK.

I've had several instances of people either writing me privately, or posting, about how they're seeing things differently.
They are lifelong conservative Republicans...some wealthy, some struggling (one's husband a union member in Ohio, afraid now of losing the family's income). They/we came into adulthood with Reagan's schtick about "welfare queens." Then they were affected by the nonstop Limbaugh brainwashing, making the words liberal, progressive, and democrat anathema to anyone who grew up or leaned toward being a Republican.
This is happening more and more if we engage in actual discussion (and I do my best to remain civil, no snark ;)). An equal number of Limbaugh/Palin/Beck fans simply never respond. They never, ever respond when an actual discussion starts. They make a snide remark and ask a question but never come back to respond to the reply.
Very telling.
I've had one really nice guy unfriend me because he said that my posts make him feel bad about himself.
Oh well...that mirror can be a real bitch sometimes.

| 5. They are simply unable to debate |

Too many of them are told what to think, and they accept it without actually understanding the implications of their accepted position. My uber-conservative and super-religious aunt is like that--she parrots all the right-wing talking points that she hears from Rush, Beck, and Hannity, but she doesn't know what any of them mean. If I challenge her/her position, she just starts shouting (o the righteous indignation!), usually about how eeeeevil Obama is.
So yes, getting them to think about what they accept as dogma SHOULD make them uncomfortable! Especially if, like my aunt, they're very religious, because what the far-right teaches is in direct opposition to what Jesus directed his followers to do.

Being uncomfortable in your own philosophical views is like wearing tight pants. Better get some new ones or something might just bust loose.
(I speak from experience in both areas :))

He's a former classmate and has four siblings also on FB, with whom I'm friends, and they're very progressive.
Needless to say, the hypocrisy of being a modern-day Republican must create a real inner struggle for those with a conscience.
Of course, the true teabaggers who aren't conflicted are always insinuating I'm the hypocrite because I criticize right-wingers.
It was for their benefit that I wrote: I always say, Choose Love, not fear or hatred. Well, we have to choose to love ourselves -- and get our priorities straight. From there, if we have to get mad and stand up and fight FOR something, then we must. But we can do so focused on Love...fighting FOR love, respect, compassion, empathy...fighting FOR Humanity, the Earth, and all creatures."

| 12. I can see my husband being conflicted |

My hubby gets conflicted from time to time, he really does have a conscious. It is amazing how he can get completely pissed off over some racist idiot in our Townhouse complex causing trouble for our wonderful maintenance guy that happens to be from South America (who hubby thinks the world of) and yet buy into all the Limbaughesque anti-immigrant BS when it's spewed. Such a disconnect!!!!! Sometimes it will almost break for a minute....and he'll talk about the teabaggers being crazy racists and he doesn't like them, just real Republicans, LOL.

I hear you. It seriously has to be very hard, so I have compassion for those who have a conscious but haven't fully embraced it yet. ;)
