| Partay hardy... someone let me outta here! |
|
Been so focused on work and house and kids the past few months. It seems like it's no wonder i go stir crazy at times. This week was spring break and I have been home with the kids - and miraculously, we haven;t had any huge meltdowns either...
So this Saturday night (tonite) I am going over to Carson to party with my girlfriends, do the bar hop, karaoke, and generally end up being naughty. Here's my crux - I want to have fun but am afraid of myself when i cut loose sometimes. It's like i get so 'pent-up' and even when i think about it before hand, like "i'm gonna watch my drinking and make sure i stop before it gets outta control" i still end up driving home in a state that i shouldn't be driving... or i go home with someone and get in trouble that way.
It sucks, cuz it seems like the only social life i have is those 'once every six months' kind of nights. I don't meet men in any other realistic way, and bar men are not the best of companions... I think i have been limited to these kinds of excursions since i was in my 20's (having a kid young kinda squelched the going out thing early on) so I have never really been able to just hang out with friends on a regular basis...sometimes i feel like the 'visitor' socially...never one of the gang because i miss out on all the in between stuff.
I am afriad of making bad choices tonight, but on the other hand, i really just wanna blow off steam and make out with someone :P
am i just a freak or what?

it seems that you're already ahead of the game because you're able to recognize this trend in yourself, no?
So, like, is it possible to get crazy without overindulging in the booze so you're still able to drive yourself home? I mean, having a laugh with your friends and acting crazy is possible, independent of booze.
When I used to party (oh so long ago--let me see if I can clear the fog of many years here...), I would nurse my drink so it lasted a looooong time and self-impose a cutoff long before I had to leave. And yet being surrounded by crazy, I empathically absorbed it and ended up acting the same way as if I had been drinking heavily.
Might be worth a try?

and i will be partaking of herb before starting, so it will help defer the drinking....
i think if i watch my watch and time my imbibing, and take a half hour between drinks to have WATER it will help.
yes, i know the crazy is just the fact that i get so pnet up...like i'm on a weekend pass from the insane asylum or something!
i just wanna dance and make out with someone, is that so bad? lol

Spring fever indeed! At least St. Pauly Textiles benefits from my habit--I cleared out my closet to make room for the new clothes (luckily I emptied out more than I bought). I also have to go shopping for a dress to wear to my niece's graduation (something nice I can wear into the wilds of tony O.C. with my head held high). But meh--it's just an excuse, innit?

Though I'm not even sure if I'm blowing out "pent up" steam -- or, you know lack of make-out time ! -- on my "days off" (i.e, when they're at their moms).
Maybe it's because I think I should always be writing during my parenting "down time." But there've been the once-in-a-while overindulgences, and sometimes -- having a couple of trips this year -- I think the busting loose will just occur when I'm out of town.
But yeah -- why is meeting people so hard? Someone safe-to-bust-loose with, as it were? (Are we back to a trust thing? Dunno...)
Well -- best naughty wishes for your evening in Carson! ;-)

| 12. wow...very interesting evening |
|
Had fun, yes. hook up? no... seems i was needed to be the counselor for a girlfriend who just broke up with her BF. I must have been called by the universe to be her voice of reason...isn;t it funny how that happens?
ya, i looked good, worked those jeans (but i tell ya, i am not used to being "put together" as it were, and the clothes werre definitely uncomfortable by mid evening...just wanna lay around in sweats, man!) it ended up being fours of us girls, and two of which were couples, so the BF were hanging out too...but they were plenty cool and had fun stories to tell. mostly just a mellow evening in the courtyard of one of the pubs, firepit, rainbow lights and the moon over head. I kept raving how nice it was to sit OUTSIDE on the patio and not be freezing or snowed on! lol
I quit drinking by 11, and had water for 2 hours before driving home...it felt good to drive home sober, and not pushing the buzzed limit.
so ya, one of my girlfriends needed to really process her recent breakup and since i am such a 'removed' friend from the folks who know her & him, it was healthy and safe for her to work thru it. I really felt that I helped in some way...so i guess that's my reason for going down there... i just am so amazed by the universe sometimes and happy that i had the wherewithall to pull through and NOT get all crazy and trashed
next friday is another planned night out, frined of ours is coming through town from chicago and we have to play... so we shall see if my 'good behavior' can becme a habit!

| 13. First. I'm going to be a wet blanket and tell you |
|
that you should never drink and drive. No, not even one drink. I'm an ex-bartender and I know of what I speak. Firstly, you may think you are in control and you may be, but one drink will be on your breath should you get pulled over by the police. One drink will slow your response if something should happen like an animal suddenly running in front of you on the road or maybe even a child. Two drinks in an hour will make you legally drunk especially if you are a woman. So my suggestion is to spend the money for a cab or get some one not drinking to drive you. Or, do you have to drink at all? Can you have fun and drink a club soda? I had bar patrons, who did just that. They socialized, played pool or darts and didn't drink anything alcoholic. Since the soft drinks were as expensive as the alcoholic ones the house didn't mind if they didn't imbibe. Also, not drinking will make you more discriminating about whom you make out with.
As far as meeting people, there are a lot of things you can do with your children, where you can meet people, including men, where you don't have to go to a bar. I have met single men, even my age, going on hikes with the Sierra Club, and you can take your kiddies with you on many of the outdoor programs they offer. Honestly, FL, bar hopping is not a good choice and though I have seen people meet someone that they go on to marry, it's generally the exception and not the rule.

It was some heartfelt advice, which you can reject. As a former bartender I have seen former patrons ruining their lives from drinking or being on drugs and driving when the unexpected happened. The lucky ones just ended up in jail, which affected their futures in ever being able to get a good job, to killing someone's pet and horror of horrors a child.

I have driven that road a few times and cringed the next day thinking how i was borderline NOT okay to drive. it was a nice thing to drive home feeling good about my choices and knowing i was being conscious
please don't pin that whole driving drunk thing on me when it doesn't apply and has nothing to do with the evening's events that just feels like it is your issue and it doesn't belong here when i was talking about MY experience
