I dunno--there has to be something bigger behind my experiences losing jewelry--besides my just being a knucklehead, I mean. Here's my list (all within weeks):
- First, my Brigid's cross ring fell off my finger while I was at a Cub Scout event. Within minutes of noticing it was gone, I saw it on the floor only a couple of feet away from me, even though I had been all over the place all evening.
- Second, my piece of Connemara marble (about 1 1/2" long, a marquise cut) fell out of my necklace (my other piece of jewelry dedicated to Brigid). I had no idea when it fell out, and I was certain it was gone, because I had been running errands all afternoon. I even looked up the eBay seller I got it from and messaged him to ask about getting another pendant. And then, hours later, I stretched out next to MG Jr. on his bed to read to him before bedtime, and I felt something pinch in my bra. It was the stone! I got out my jeweler's glue right away. HOW did it get in my bra? No idea. It wasn't exactly a direct shot, if you know what I mean.
- Third, while I was visiting my family in California, I borrowed my SIL's SUV to run up to the drug store. About half an hour after I got back, I noticed that the charm on a bracelet I made had fallen off. Not the first time, but I thought I secured it better after I lost the last one. This one was a silver feather with a yellow faceted bead, coupled with a small oval of silver stamped with the word "Inspire." I was REALLY certain that was gone, but several hours later I found it in the driveway.
- Fourth, on the way home, while on the plane waiting for it to take off, I noticed another charm, a sunflower, had fallen off the latest bracelet I made. Okay, now THAT one was DEFINITELY gone, right? Brother's house to SUV to airport--hopeless. Um...plane landed, reached under the seat to get my son's carryon out...and there it was, waiting for me.
So. :wtf: I accept that jewelry breaks all the time, but why do I lose something, panic, and then find it RIGHT THERE? I'm trying to puzzle out whether I'm calling the pieces back to me or if they're getting lost to get my attention for some reason or what. Any ideas? I'm stumped.
