1. I'm guissing that it was just many years

possibly even many generations, of just paying attention.

We modern people who live in a world lit by electricity, have almost no understanding of how truly dar the night skies used to be up until a little over a hundred years ago. Humans are smart, and they are very observant. Everyone would have noticed all the star arrangements (constellations) and the planets and the change of seasons from they time they first opened their eyes. It's not much of a leap from observing those things to believing that those things influence events.

Even today it seems as though astrologers are still trying to refine just how it is that astrology works.

Even the total skeptics and non believers in astrology should understand that in the beginning astronomy and astrology were one and the same.
