come back to it; it didn't quite make sense, did it? :-)
In detail...it looked like a smaller coach house; there was the main floor, and a level upstairs (a small round window)that had a small trail of black above it.
The bus had stopped for the traffic...I was looking at this coach house, and all of a sudden I saw 3 younger girls...one was about 12 or 13, one a couple years younger, and the youngest quite likely 5 or 6. I got the feeling it was the very early part of the 20th century.
They belonged in the estate house nearby, but had snuck out to stay in the coach house. It was evening, and they were wearing bedtime attire.
They were obviously upstairs. It was a bit of a blur after...there was a fire, and only 2 of the girls emerged...the youngest one didn't. There were many people around, trying to put it out with buckets of water...there was a bell (which I assumed was the fire brigade), and a blackness surrounding the estate, mourning the little girl.
This may have lasted all of 30 seconds, and since it happened almost 20 years ago, I may have missed some detail, but that is the crux of it.
The bus started moving again, and once again, I was back in the then present. (this estate, btw, was in the middle of downtown, and was not a huge, sprawling one. The coach house was right near the street I was on, and further north - I was heading west - was the house itself)
The next week, the coach house was gone. The next few journeys I tried to remember exactly where it was (I had only been riding that bus, once a week, for 2, maybe 3x at most, and it was a long journey in an area I was unfamiliar with)
There definitely was a coach house, as I used to be with a friend on this journey, and she verified it. Soon after, I stopped that ride, and left the province entirely.
I had not been able to verify if this event ever happened. I think I will see if I can find out online what this estate is/was. A little project for me.
