| Can someone here explain the relevance of solar return charts? |
|
My birthday is this week (10th) and I brought up my solar return chart on astro.com. Please excuse my ignorance, but how are these charts used and what is the relevance (if any) of the aspects displayed in one?

| 1. I look at it as describing your year. |

I go with the houses as the most important things to look at. Especially the house of the Moon. That said, it isn't my favorite timing device, I use transits more than anything else.

I tried to respond to this thread days ago and got booted after typing a lengthy response.
Okay. . .in a solar return chart the aspects within it and the synastry to the natal chart are indeed totally significant. Yet the planets that are angular (i.e. conjunct the Asc,, Desc., M.C., and nadir) are presumed by many to be even more significant for the year to come.
So there is this great and ridiculous argument between those astrologers who can afford to fly to far flung places to get certain planets angular and those who cannot. Those who can afford to do so insist that the relocated chart has staying power. Those who cannot say that it switches back to one's place of residence as soon as they return home anyhoo.
The only times I've spent my birth day in different time zones I spent the duration of the year in those places so it's all mute to me.
In summation, solar return charts are totally worth looking at especially over the course of several years.
Happy belated birthday. Hope you had a good one and an even better year to come.

I've been wondering about it myself. I have a stellium coming up in my solar return chart, and 3 t-squares involving all the planets, angles and points, plus a grand trine. A busy year, I take it... (also Mars/Moon on the MC, Uranus on the IC)
Would interpreting Venus return charts be similar? (since it's only 2 days before my birthday, there is also a stellium of 5 planets in one house, and a huge t-square involving 9 planets)
