update on my kitty, Sara. I thought I would lose her last night.She doesn't appear to haven eaten

for at least a day and refused to drink as well.She is dehyrated and weak.And this with taking prednisone to give her an appetite! I call her my "ham cat " because she loves bacon and ham. I cooked bacon and she sucked on it but didn't swallow it.But then I cooerced her into drinking water and she drank tons of it. I waited a while and force fed her the vets high calorie food that I was afraid she would vomit up ( she did previously)but guess what? She ate the food herself after I force fed her! She is going to the vets in the next hour and I need some prayers and light.I now have a sense of peace that she may pull through! Please send her energy!

good luck at the vet but if you have any live grass around (I don't know where you live) or any access to a store that sells wheatgrass it may help clean her out. To many salts and nitrates from the ham and bacon may have her backed up. Aloe juice won't hurt either. A little brown rice in her food may help as well.

We just got back. She has a fever 103.5 and is jaundiced. She is on antibiotics and more prednisone.We hydrated her and she took some bloodtests. She has been very alert and affectionate.Maybe we can beat this. She is such a joy.We love her very much!

10. Steroids are pretty commonly used in cats.

They work for both pain and kind of like a(n) euphoric, I'm told. She may well be feeling a WHOLE lot better with a big dose of that in her system!

If she's jaundiced, is there some kind of liver or kidney issue at work here? Kidney stuff can be pretty common in the older cats, and it really seems to play havoc with some kitties more than others. Don't panic, however, I've known people that had cats with "kidney failure" that were still under foot a few years later--it all depends on what is going on.

Keep her happy and keep on loving her. It sounds like you are being the best "cat mom" you can be! By tomorrow she may be back in true form and begging for something yummy!
