| 'Rising sign' astrological charts--Anyone have them done? |
|
Was it helpful to you?
I've read Jeanne Avery's 'Rising Sign' and found the description and nuances of my rising sign so dead on, that I am now very interested in having my rising sign chart done. Just wondered if anyone on this forum had this done, and if you found it to be helpful?

| 1. I had the whole Birth chart horoscopes drawn up for me and my family. |
|
The Astologist kept emphasizing the importance of the rising sign throughout the reading, and in all of our cases, the rising sign information was the most "visible" descriptions in our characters....if you know what I mean.

How would a rising sign chart be different? If the time of birth is known...it would always be a rising sign chart, in that the rising sign is always the cusp of the 1st house.
It's often true that if you read general horoscopes that looking at your rising sign will fit better then your sun sign...since the general horoscopes look at the relation of transits through houses. So looking at your rising sign would be more accurate unless you also have a first house sun.
I haven't read that book so I am just trying to clarify what you mean.

instead of the Sun Sign....
I am not well-learned in Astrology - I just find it very interesting for character/psychological understanding.

I looked up my boys after doing my own chart... and yep, the rising sign suits every one of us to a T! I always read both my sun sign and my rising sign when reading the general horoscopes.
It's fascinating, the combinaton of sun & rising sign, really. I'd love to learn more about the dynamics.

Is the rising sign...modified by the sign that the chart ruler is in.
That is, if you have Cancer rising and the chart ruler Moon is in Aquarius...you might find a Cancer/Aquarius blend is very descriptive. But that is just what I have found true.
Traditionally you would look at the planets in the first house and major aspects to the ascendant as modifications of the rising sign traits. The rising sign and first house are what is supposed to describe physical traits, with modifiers as described, as well as other things.
For instance with a Cancer AC again you'd tend to be shorter, round of face, paler skinned...but Mars would ruddy you, Saturn lengthen you and so on.
Astrology is pretty amazing. I spent most of my life ignoring it and thinking it was stupid if I thought of it at all. Then a few years ago a couple of astrological things were stunningly accurate...so I set out to disprove it to myself. It didn't work that way. I have been an avid student since. I am still surprised.

I can't get over how much more detailed one's personality analysis is or can be, based on looking at the rising sign.
The woman who wrote the book, lives locally to me. I am debating as to whether I will get a chart done by her. I would really love to--it's just a tad pricey.
