Thought I'd share this, just for the humor:

Scorpio

Now, I love Scorpios as much as I love anyone, so don't take offense. But I've known a few who were real pills, so I really did laugh out loud when I read this. Besides, who would trust astrology advice from MSN?

1. Thanks for this. This brightens up my Friday!

I'm an Aries while hubby and both kids are Taurus'. We have a wonderful german shepherd, still very much a puppy at 79 lbs and almost 2 yrs old. She has energy galore (a little too much at times). Hubby gets a kick out of her looking to him for approval before following a command from anyone but our immediate family. To quiet her energy so we get a little break on Friday nights, she goes to doggy day care every Friday.

However, I do wish we had Cesar Milan (the dog whisperer) as a neighbor. ;)

but really a cat is also a perfect scorpio pet. They are aloof, keep to themselves, and are not reluctant to bring out the claws!

7. I'm another Scorpio that loves cats

I love that they're smart, are a bit aloof but will still come to you for a cuddle now and again. Nothing like a warm kitty cuddling up to me on nights when I can't sleep. Much better than sleeping pills. :-)

I have had cats my entire life (50+ yrs). I feel a very strong kinship to them & we seem to "understand" one another. I think it has to do with both of us respecting the independence of the other. And we both can be lovable when the mood strikes us. LOL

4. ok, it wasn't a spider, but

When I first moved to Maine I found myself in my very first (and hopefully last!) building project. By the end of each day, I was entirely too sore and exhausted to do much except crash on the couch.

I became fascinated with a bug that had moved into my house. It was very cute, with funny flat feet. It walked very slowly and peacefully around. Didn't do any damage. Didn't make any noise. Every evening I'd spend hours on my side sipping a glass of sherry to ease the physical pain while watching my bug wander around.

Until the middle of one night when I headed to the bathroom in the dark and felt...crunch...under my slipper. :cry: :cry: :cry:

I squished my bug. :cry: My bug's relatives have occasionally shown up here. But I've never totally gotten over squishing my bug. :cry:

16. We can become attached to any living creature.

It's beautiful when we realize that creatures that humans usually consider to be worthless are actually unique individuals that have value to us.

5. Geckos make good pets too.... They only come out at night.

We've had a few that snuck in the house. Found at least two that ended up in the washing machine and didn't know they were in there until AFTER I took my clothes out and they were dead :cry:

I like to watch them crawling around my kitchen window looking for moths to snatch up. They are soooooo cute.

I am a Sag with a Scorpio rising, and, I tend to look at the Scorpio "assessments". This one was over the top, as far as I am concerned.

IMO, a cat is an ideal companion for a Scorpio.

12. This Taurus needs a Pom like I need any other small yippy milkweed type puff ball.

My daughter used to stay with an after school lady who had a Pom named Ginger. Ginger was a pretty sweet dog, but she was about as hyper as it gets. Whenever the doorbell rang the dog would start bouncing and yipping. It was almost as if the yips were propelling her straight up off the floor. Yip=launch Yip=launch Yip=launch Yip=launch Yip=launch...

I actually watched that dog run into a wall, back off, shake her head and then do it all again--all the while yipping madly.

No way would I choose to sustain that for too long in my household.

My big old fat black cat suits me just fine--his energy level seems to match mine these days.

Having said that, I also want to offer that I have always been partial to large breed dogs simply because they usually do not tend to be hyper like a lot of the little dogs can be. I have lived with terriers and other smaller dogs as well as with labs and shepherds. They were all good dogs, and well loved, but my first choice will always be a bigger breed dog.

I can't speak for all residents of Taurus, but I have always harbored a suspicion that there are a lot of us who have a distinct preference for a dog with some "substance."

I have to wonder--does anyone know if this is true?

25. For lack of a better way to say it "functionality."

Labs--I get. Retrievers--I get. Working terriers--I get. Shepherds--no problem, and the same goes for most other dogs that were bred for a "purpose." The dogs I have never been able to really forge much of an understanding with are the ones that are too small to be of much use or the ones that are so "flighty" they just competely lack any sense.

I completely do not "get" any teacup sized dog (you just have to know that some of those little dogs look like they might get stomped by a mouse!) and I have zero understading of any dog that is so neurotic it just sits and shakes.

"Tuff," however, never really occured to me. I love Westies and those guys do not exactly look like "tuff" customers, so I dunno. Interesting point about grounded dogs, however. Maybe that is it...

my cat is half Siamese and I can't walk into the kitchen without it whining and bitching. Plus it whines by my bed in the am waking me up.

Leos don't like whiners.

Edited to qualify that this is not "my" cat, its my husband's cat. He should know better being a Leo too. I chalk it up to early childhood experiences living in apartments where you could not have a dog but you could keep a cat.

23. You are exactly right

I know how Scorpio and Capricorn often get the shaft with pop-astrology. I must say I'm guilty of it myself in my own newsletter. Although, I try to have fun with it and show a point as far as the deeper archetype. If anything, Scorpios are attracted to cats.

The more and more I do this stuff, I think we need to stop thinking of "our sign". It is helpful and often destructive. Please, everyone, keep in mind you all have about 4 or 5 sun signs strong in your chart. It's just a few "bad" Scorpios, and I do mean bad, that give all the Scorps a bad name. Most of them are wonderful people.

Keep loose everyone with your sun sign interpretations - and I'll try to too.

I can hardly take care of myself. I do live undisturbed by the spiders in my own nest. They keep bugs at bay, and we peacefully coexist. The grandkids are slowly learning that spiders in Oregon are unlikely to hunt them, unlike those of their father's native Brazil. I buy into this analysis to the extent it matches my experience.

20. Brazilian wandering spiders

can grow to have a leg span of up to 4-5 in. The Brazilian wandering spiders appear in Guinness World Records 2007 as the world's most venomous spider, and are considered to be responsible for the most human deaths due to spider bites.

I found that in Wikipedia and was going to copy the picture here, but I couldn't bring myself to touch it. Ewwwwww. Creepy little buggers. :yoiks:

I do live in harmony with the spiders in my house, too, but that's because I'm not afraid of them having me for breakfast.

I've enjoyed the replies here. Geckos are very cool. Had them where I lived as a teenager. We were due for a big storm which we knew would cause some flooding in the house so I was taking my shoes out of the closet and I found 3 gecko eggs. I put them in a little box on some cotton and when I took the lid off a few days later, after the water was gone, there was one tiny and very dark gecko in there. Usually they are a pale color. I would later see him around the house and recognize him by the color so I always thought of him as a bit of a pet. Though he never came when I called.

I do not think, though, that it was a very responsible thing for MSN to recommend an iguana as a pet. I realize many people have them but they are a huge responsibility and they often end up being discarded.

My "ideal" pet was love birds. Umm, no, I don't think so. I love birds but there is just no way I would have them as pets. I'll stick to my kitties, thank you, one of whom is rolling all over my lap right now making it very hard to type.
