That no matter what life dishes, it's never too late to keep pursuing dreams. Here's a quote to pique your interest, "She (Susan Boyle) was starved of oxygen at birth and has learning difficulties as a result. At school she was slow and had frizzy hair. She was bullied, mostly verbally. She told one newspaper that her classmates' jibes left behind the kind of scars that don't heal." Thread here - http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x5452846Or go directly to clip and listened to Boyle's magnificent voice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY

Susan is an amazing woman and showed extreme courage. Her talent should be rewarded. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves.
Funny thing about a dream I had the other night. I was helping an artist (that I have an incredible crush on in real life) work on a project and he told me that I wasn't very pretty. Of course this statement crushed me. But I told him that I have such an inner beauty that it forces its way outward and hence I AM beautiful. He didn't say anything for a long time, as he was contemplating what I said, I went about working on the art project trying not to let my hurt feelings interfere with what he said about me. After a while he acknowledge that what I said to him was very true. This made me very happy :)
I have a LOT of dreams with this man in them. I'm not sure why, but it always leaves me feeling like I should do something about them. He is somewhat a "famous" person (singer-songwriter-poet-musician-artist), although not well known in America. It is really driving me crazy to have such strong feelings for him.

| 2. Wow, even in your unconscious state |
|
you've got a strong sense of identity and self-worth. Now, that's to be commended! Powerful dream, please indulge my take on it.
From what I've read and experienced, dreams of the arts represent personal creativity and a channel to higher levels of consciousness. Jung called it Level 3, a high level of dreaming. Also, in your dream you're Working on a project and so it may be about unrealized potential/an aspect of your personality that needs attention, as opposed to being an observer indicating a need for inspiration. And because its recurring, it may be about not addressing a particular ability or not accepting opportunities related to it.
I wonder if the rude artist is not a standard for you, and may be even you? On one hand, you admire him but on the other, he did not recognize your inner beauty until you set him straight, thereby forcing your beauty (perhaps a talent/ability) outwards.
Oh, it drives me crazy, too, having crushes on men I can't stand. I'm too ashamed to say who my latest is. And I really don't want any dreams about him.

Not ALL my dreams about DS have been bad. I've had several really GOOD dreams with him in them, and a few of them involved art projects.
He is an enlightened spirit. His music is inspirational and mystical and feeds my soul.
Funny thing, when I can't get to sleep sometimes I will make up dreams or stories. Sometimes I will carry on from a past dream with DS and add to it. A lot of those times I am working on art projects that I have been putting off. Which leads me to some really great ideas. I just need a bigger studio for some of them. I have several large mirrors that I have been wanting to work on. I already have a name for the projects "Reflections of the Soul" hopefully I can start working on them soon!

I do tend to think that I'm not as beautiful as I wish I could be, but I try really hard to not think like that.
Thanks for your insights. I really appreciate them

 Mirrors? Reflections of the Soul? Sounds very, very linked and intriguing. I'd love to hear more, if you ever feel so inclined :)

I watched it so many times for so many reasons and each time my face would fill with tingling goosebumps. Then the last transcript I edited - like 5minutes ago - was on guess who? Susan Boyle, and it was like I never heard her sing before. Just amazing.

Had to read it in high school and it was a chore! Then my French teacher had us read in the language and watch a movie. Ugh!!! And then a few years after high school, the musical and I totally tuned it out. If someone said Jean Valjean to me at the time, I think I would have screamed  But I don't think any musical could beat the saturation of Cats :)

I'm so ashamed of what the JERKS did in my Jr. High to people "like" her. I'm trying to form my 40th reunion and people STILL won't come due to the permanent injury they suffered then. Kee rist

| 11. Yeah, that's a shame, isn't it? |

And what's really bad is so many of us, though victims ourselves, might even contribute to such injuries, even in our silence. Too many examples to cite but I guess my point is that Boyle transcends victimhood, singing, touching our common humanity and lifts us up by doing so. :grouphug:
Hey, maybe you should send a link to your classmates who still feel the pain to help let go and shine a little.

Stunning, inspiring, yet poignant performance.
So for 35 years she's been practicing and preparing, as is clear by the solid vocal technique behind her totally sincere and artless (uncontrived) performance. Yet it took 35 years for her to get a single opportunity. That is nothing short of heartbreaking, because society's refusal to give her an opportunity, and the cynicism and mocking of her by the audience and Simon before she started singing, was due 100% to her packaging. If she'd been a pretty with a body, she'd have had doors opening for her right and left long ago.
I hope this door stays open for her for a good long time, because she deserves it.

I agree up to a point. I'm not sure that it is all about looks, only say this from experiences with a sister who is blessed with beauty of form and face and has sung like an angel since childhood. And, really, that's not just my opinion. I think all kinds of people can be on the receiving end of mockery, cynicism, meanness. To me, it's not all about beauty 'cause I've seen the not so beautiful be equally vile many times.
I remember Maya Angelou describing people like balloons pricked over and over again until they finally deflate spiritually, as we saw with Boyle right up to her shining moment but she rose to the occasion and soared. She is such a fantastic example of never giving up against all kinds of odds when there is a burning desire within that is right.

People treated me okay (I think?) and I still don't want to attend. Something about high school reunions.......
Okay, Celebration, don't get started on the Peggy Sue movie again.
