Do grapes rebound from a freeze?

We had a hard freeze last night, two days after our 'last frost date'. A heavy frost is predicted for tonight. I got the peppers covered (5-gallon pails) and so they made it OK, the Potatoes took it rough with badly burned leaves, but it was my grapes that broke my heart. They began to sprout in ernest about a week ago and were looking really good - all of the new growth is obviously dead. This was the first year we should have grapes; I planted the vines 3 years ago and got them trained to my arbor in a 4-cane system last year.

Do they come back with additional growth after they get hit? Should I trim off the limp burned shoots and leaves?

Arrrgggggggggg ... Any suggestions will certainly be welcome.

Oh, peas, carrots, onions, asparagus, blueberries, lettuce, radishes, and shallots laughed off the cold.

but you won't get as much growth or fruit this year as you would have. :(

just let them alone and they should send out new buds soon. good luck!

Thank you ever so much. These grapes are something I meant to plant for 30 years and never got around to. So I planted a dozen vines and worked my butt off setting posts (in concrete) and digging holes to be filled with composted manure (a year before planting the grapes). Because of a bad problem with moles the first year I had to cut the plants back almost to the ground and start anew last year. They took off well and I got them trained well. So basically I've got over 3 years work in these things and haven't tasted a grape yet, but hope for some this year. I'm of an age when men keel over dead for no good reason at all, so I'm sort of playing beat-the-clock on these things. Not really .... well, really, but not.

3. Well, you've given me hope too

I just planted my babies a few weeks ago. I've been wanting them for years. :)

Two have taken right off, one is starting to worry me (they weren't in the best of condition when I got them for almost nothing). :)

I'm so looking forward to the fruit, but I will be content for the first few years to see the cheesy arbor and ugly back chain link fence obscured by beautiful grape vines. :D
