| A safe remedy for aphids and white flies. |
|
I just read this in a gardening book I have.
Get some kind of bright yellow card stock (I used white stock and colored it in with a yellow highlighter). Find some way to attach it to something solid within your garden. (I have a small, 2-foot "fence" around mine that I used. I poked holes in the top and used a twist tie to attach.) Slather the card on both sides with Petroleum Jelly. Apparently the white flies and aphids are attracted to the yellow and the petroleum jelly won't let them go once they land.
I did this less than a week ago and there are already LOTS of aphids stuck to the cards. (I'm not sure if there are white flies 'cause you can't really see the little suckers unless they're flying around.)
Anyway, just thought I'd share that.

ladybugs LOVE aphids and are considered beneficial insects. Same for lacewings and the praying mantis. You might consider adding these to your garden. They can be purchased online. Will try to find a site.
