| Sprinkler systems.......the bane of my existance |
|
I try so hard to conserve water. Then, one night while I'm sleeping or one day while I'm at work, something blows. The other day it was the main valve to the whole system and the water was blowing out like a fire hydrant. At four in the morning! :banghead: Luckily our neighbor is an early riser and alerted us before we flooded the whole neighborhood. Other times something blows or breaks somewhere underground where you can't tell until you notice cattails growing in a corner of your property.
My question is: Is there some sort of safety shut-off device that would sense when something has blown on the system by the pressure change or whatever? I'm sure whatever a device like this costs, it would pay for itself many times over and save me lots of money on my future water bills.

| 1. Homeowners install protection devices for if their washing machine hoses burst |
|
There is a weak link in your plumbing--a rubber hose with full street pressure on it 24 hours a day. I don't know what the device is, but it will somehow detect and shut down if there is a pipe burst downstream.
