| composting question.....help |
|
i have some large compost piles on my southern pacific rainforest property. they're about 99% leaves and the rest is chopped weeds and stuff. there's certainly not enough green matter and at the moment it's a long haul uphill to carry cow manure. the largest compost heap i have is about 8 meters in circumference and a meter deep.
so, i think i should be able to use urea at a rate of one pound per cubic meter to get things heated up. i can get urea pellets pretty cheap down here.
my question is this: if i use urea, will my compost be organic or is urea a chemical? the labels always say it's a high percentage of nitrogen and the rest is inert materials but i don't know what that means. i'd like to keep my gardening organic and i don't know if urea will have an effect on that.
if by chance urea is not a good choice to heat up my compost piles, does anyone have alternate suggestions until i'm able to get manure up there?
thanks!

....i can get an endless supply of cow manure. problem is getting it up the hill to where the compost piles are. so i'm looking for a super concentrated form of nitrogen.

it's massive nitrogen
edit to add, don't forget to 'water' it every time you get a chance. 'water' it from your body.
know what I mean?
