| First harvest of Tomatoes (Roma & Large Grape varieties) |
|
We're leaving today to go down to my inlaws farm/orchard (6hr drive). I just harvested my first bunch of tomatoes to take with me and sauce or stew for jarring. The first round has completely packed just over 1/2 of a large whole foods paper bag (or 3/4 of the nicer square bottom large fabric grocery bags). This is from 5 plants (3 roma, 2 grape). The heirlooms aren't ready yet, but they're nice and large. I also pulled about 10 green peppers, leaving the reds to turn some first.
A couple weeks back, we pulled green beans (they have been delicious). Next year... I'm planting more green beans - oodles of them. I might skip lettuce to make more room.
Oh yes, and while at the farm... You had better believe I'm going to be scooping up as many peaches as I can. Yummy delicious, freestone peaches. Mmmmm. I think I might just eat peaches, corn & tomatoes for the next week, LOL.

| 1. I'm so with you on the green beans. |

I've never been a fan of green beans, that is until I've grown them, and now I can't get enough. There is nothing better than running out to the ol urban farm and grabbing a few dozen to cook for dinner. Them, and the cherry tomatoes and Japanese Cukes have been my favorites so far.

a single garlic clove, diced sweet onion and a little turkey bacon. I fry up the extras and toss in the green beans, the pop the lid on and let them do their magic. Great, now I'm hungry, LOL.

| 3. We've had Sprite grape tomatoes this year |
|
and they have been awesome. Indeterminate and have been producing tomatoes since Mid June and they are still making tomatoes. I got them free from a seed catalog because I bought some exotic seeds which havent' produced squat.
