You have to take care of them and share them with others.
I have a plan I call the Troll Catch and Release Program.
But TCRP only works if everybody plays along.

You don't get truth in advertising like that too often. Heck, I've added him to my Buddy List.
Made it as far as 15 posts before the bottom fell out.

If he had held off on that whale.to web site, it would have taken a lot longer to figure out that he was giving "crazy" a bad name.

| 10. Have you ever been in that situation IRL? |
|
Like sitting on a long bus ride next to someone for an hour or two, only to discover after about 90 minutes of conversation that the person is utterly nuts? By that time it's usually too late to jump out the window or to change seats.
Kind of the same thing applies here: if he'd played it cool a little longer, DU would have assimilated him into the background of nutty anti-vaxers without attributing any particular madness to him. And by the time he outed his own madness, it might not have seemed worthwhile to TS him.
Wacky, wacky stuff.

| 11. Yes, in fact it happened last week. |
|
I was on a road trip and I checked into a motel.
I met a single, age-appropriate woman and began to make a move.
4 beers later, a bottle of ibuprofen fell out of my pocket so I joked "I read that taking Ibuprofen prevents Alzheimer's--but I can't remember where I read it."
She suddenly got very serious and said "Oh no, Alzheimer's is caused by the aluminum in baking soda."
Well....end of story.

But it just shows how quickly things can go straight to hell.
I think I need some sort of woo radar or woo-dar.

| 15. Astrology did the same to me recently... |
|
I didn't mind (much) the simple, daily-newspaper hoorah of her asking "What's your sign?" But when I told her and she launched into a virtual reading, I lost interest quickly.
Then I annoyed her when she went all enthusiastic on me being a Gemini, or "twin." I pointed out that my father was half of a set of twins, and my mother has a younger sister and brother who were twins. And all four of those people are wildly different, despite being born at the same time.
This was an otherwise perfectly nice British woman on a tour of Egypt. Since the local women are 95% Muslim and therefore not very hit-on-able, I sometimes play lounge lizard in the local hotels. The worst part of it is hearing the alleged song "Feelings" sung in Arabic...no, the worst part is the tourists who think aliens built the Pyramids. But they are usually Americans.
One of my favorite local jokes about relationships over here: the Muslim world has an equivalent of the Barbie doll, called Fulla. Egyptians joke that Fulla does not have a Ken doll for companionship, but she is accessorized with "several angry brothers."

| 17. You are very near the epicenter of all woo. |
|
The closest we have on this continent is Sedona AZ which attracts spiritualists of all stripes.
But seriously, there is an ethical question here. Do you continue to pursue even after you know that the object of your pursuit is logically compromised? Twenty-five years ago I would have said "Hell Yeah!" Now it is not likely. But as Mark Twain pointed out, it is easier for an old man to obey the adultery commandment than it is for a young man.

You're absolutely right. I just don't have the patience anymore to sit through 3 or 4 hours of "spiritual" mumbo-jumbo. I'd rather watch an Adam Sandler movie, and I frigging HATE Adam Sandler.
One of the young women here in the neighborhood often teases me about marrying her. I'm tempted to take her up on it. But only because I fantasize about my Xian fundie relatives having to deal with a Muslim in-law AND an Infidel in the family.

| 20. I struggled with this a few years ago. |
|
I was on a first date with a woman when she began to talk about how every question could be answered by the bible. I was single. I was lonely. I needed a little time with someone else, so I shut up about my lack of belief and tried to ignore the obvious discrepancy in our lives. It lasted for about two weeks, until one of her friends quizzed me about religion. It was worth it, though (and I don't just mean the sex). She was a nice person and had been caught up in one of the evangelical churches, and she re-thought her commitment to that group (not a very nice bunch of people, IMO) before we finally ended our relationship.
