I sent an alert to the moderator defending the original post, so they'd hear an opposing opinion, just in case people alerted and asked for a tombstone.

I also alerted on a certain particulary "nasty" poster.

Nice work.

In order to mount an immune response the molecule usually has to be large and complex. Aside from that, if you actually had a hypersensitivity to an amino acid you would have died in infancy if you even made it that far. I haven't looked into it but I'd suspect that since glutamate is a neurotransmitter people may have some problems if they ingest large quantities at once (assuming it crosses the BBB), leading them to believe they have an 'allergy.'
