Their rantings come and go in cycles.
Honestly right now, I'm too tired to argue with them. They can spread as much BS as they want - I'm recovering from the Swine Flu and their nonsense is the last thing I need.

to violating the rules here at DU. You should point that out (or PM me the post and I'll point it out to them).

on one poster. Their nastiness just amazes me. Trying to disucss the merits of vaccines with these people is fulile. I have tried in the past but they just don't get it.
I worked in a pediatric hospital as the microbiolgy supervisor prior to many of the current vaccines. We saw a lot of infectious diseases that are now preventable. Many lives have been saved because of these vaccines.

is the willingness to accept RW conspiracy hate-sites as valid sources. Clue: if a site includes a section on 'The Auschwitz Hoax' and its writers include one character who in his youth acted as a researcher for Joe McCarthy and has more recently written crap about the Jews drinking children's blood and ruling the world; another character who worked for George Wallace's running-mate; and a third who quotes the 'Protocols' approvingly and writes articles on the evils of 'tolerance', the wickedness of feminism, and how the Rockefellers got the evil American Psychological Association to reclassify homosexuality as 'normal' - then it's just POSSIBLE that it's not really a valid site for progressives.
But members of this forum might find whale.to's comments on Richard Dawkins 'The Devil's Vicar' ... entertaining.

There's an on-going, developing conversation in the larger skeptical community about "tone". In general, I agree with those that want to steer skeptics to engage with people who believe extraordinary things in a more congenial manner. I think we do ourselves a disservice when we just scream and shout at people that they're morons. It just justifies the stereotypes they have of us.
Yet I'm not sure how one deals politely with hate and conspiracy mongers. In fact, I don't think you do. We know from multiple areas of research from cog. neurosci. to political science that simply debunking them doesn't work. Incredibly, debunking seems to reinforce the false or bad information. Yet if you call someone a liar, cheat or fraud people remember that. So when it comes to dealing with people like, for example, Hulda Clarke, I think you have to go for the throat.
