| 2. I'm always a *tiny* bit heartened when it's a YouTube link |
|
As bad as it gets around here, nothing comes close to the brain-searing stupidity of YouTube posters.
On the first page of comments right now is a guy with his dodged-a-bullet horror story. He refused a hepatitis shot in the '70s and shortly after, it was LINKED TO AIDS!!!
Heh.
Then after a bit of chestbeating about being born free and intending to die free, he lets us know why he won't take the flu shot -- because everybody knows the virus AND THE VACCINE will mutate until millions die from both.
His username: mensa517

| 3. Face it, some people on DU are just plain gullible |

and are total suckers for any alarmist horseshit that's posted anywhere on a blog or video.
Once again, I identify the alarmist horseshit and force myself to move on. There is no way to talk to a believer, but other people who read the rubbish might be reached as long as it doesn't degrade into a pissing contest.
I guess paranoid types must enjoy scaring themselves stupid over nothing.

I've been clinically paranoid, but I don't remember thinking that the lack of evidence supported my paranoia. This was something of an eye-opener. The true believers are a breed apart.

but the acceptance of right-wing sources if it proves the point. Someone just posted that 'sometimes you can get better info from far right sources than any other'. This horrified me.

They so desperately want to believe in the conspiracy, they'll believe anyone who agrees with them on that one issue - no matter how completely whacked out and insane that source is on EVERY OTHER SINGLE ISSUE.

is part of a gub'mint, Democrat, Commie, Antichrist (that being Obama) plot to inject us all with microchips as foretold in the book of Revelation. It's true! I read it on the Internutz.

a thread about the girl who died (of undiagnosed cancer, as it turns out) after a Cervarix vaccine in Coventry is leading to responses expressing distrust because the vaccine was 'approved by the Bush FDA'. I know that the UK is sometimes called the '51st state', but good grief!
