What do you believe is the most misunderstood term used? What is the term that you believe needlessly sends people into a panic?
I vote "genetically engineered". People hear that and they immediately think "Frankenstein!!!" (Although Frankie *wasn't* genetically engineered)

Energy would get my vote. People really don't seem to grasp what energy is in terms of physics and the abuses on the word are rampant.

I love Terry Pratchett's use of it, he's very skilled at skewering a lot of people and the complete misunderstanding of things and their goofy ass beliefs.

Yes! Theory has to be the most misunderstood/misused term in all of history. Seconded by hypothesis.
Although, guessing from the comments in that GD thread, I'm beginning to think we need to move 'bomb' into the top ten too.
