right behind the anti-vaxxers. As someone who has had a relative whose LIFE has been saved by SSRI's and who benefits from them myself this ignorance PISSES me off, big time.

That's the only possible reason you don't agree with the anti-SSRI paranoia.

| 9. Going off them suddenly makes people WACKO, though |
|
I know, I missed a couple of doses when I was trying them for FMS and I found myself throwing a chair across the living room when I got frustrated with something. A co worker's husband was a woohead who talked her into stopping hers suddenly and she tried to run him over with her car. She missed, something we all regretted, he was a jerk who richly deserved it.
I have to think that's what's happening with most of the people taking SSRIs who have violent episodes. They need to be told every time they see the doc that trying to go off them all at once will make them CRAZY and that they need to be tapered down slowly.
The worst part is that SSRIs didn't help me, at all, and I did end up tapering off the damned things. It took me about 6 months.
While they can be lifesavers for people who respond well to them, they should be handed out with a lot more caution than they are now.

Won't take them because of the woos scare tactics? I really think that besides being overproscribed the other side of the coin is the fear of those who really need them.

|
because there is no way they can drag themselves to a high enough level, full time job to have medical benefits.
That's also probably a factor in people stopping them suddenly and going nuts.
The wooheads will never admit any of this, of course. They're thrilled to join the corporations in their ongoing war against the American people.

long dead, but self medicated with alcohol for what would now be diagnosed as depression. I guess we should go back to the "good old days" instead of using these drugs. :eyes:

try to self medicate with alcohol to take the peaks off the highs and numb the lows. It's one reason my family is so full of alcoholics.
I think back in the really good old days before Anslinger and the rest of the early, racist drug warriors, people self medicated a lot with laudanum, cocaine, and alcohol.
Most of them were probably better off, titrating the drugs to the point they felt the best.

I want to ease through life as a sallow zombie, scaring the crap out of anyone who gets in my way. No more waiting at the gas pumps and every checkout is an express checkout. Plus, half off on everything with an undead stare and one word -- braaaains.
If these magic pills don't bless me with undead chic, lying Big Pharma Woos owe me a big honking apology.
