I had a buddy in high school with an NES that he let me borrow. Had another buddy let me borrow his PSOne to play FF for a while. Borrowed a SNES to play Super Mario Brothers 3. But I didn't actually own another gaming system until I got a GameCube for my daughter (and to play Zelda). Then I got a PS2, then a PS3.
We picked up a DSLite in there, with a PSP, but the first was lost, and the second stolen. When the next gen comes out, hopefully with a longer battery life, I'll get a 3DS.
