| Has anyone heard of Washington State High School? |
|
A friend is planning to home school her 15-year-old grandson (whom she is raising) through this. I Googled and found nothing, much to my surprise.
Can anyone please give me some information? Thanks.

r u sure she got the name right? I'm not finding anything with that name exactly..... though there are some "washington state" online highschool programs, they have different names. Ask her to be more specific.

| 2. I've asked her multiple times....and always get the same answer. |
|
And I am uncomfortable asking her where she found it because it might sound like I am questioning her decision. Or am snooping to see what the program involves, which I am...of course. There are some things that one is uncomfortable questioning, even with friends.
Thanks for your response.

| 4. Hmmmm....I am seeing her with another friend in tow next Saturday.... |

Maybe the third party can start asking since I have tried to get information numerous times.
Frankly, the kid would benefit from military school far more than home schooling. My friend agrees. And I HATE the idea of military school.
He was abandoned at age 3 by his drug-addicted mother (my friend is the father's mother) in another state and has been in the grandparents' custody every since. They have been excessively permissive with him for 12 years and are now living with the consequences.
Thanks for your help.

I wouldn't wish mil school on anyone!!! .... are they hs'ing 'cause they HAVE to - i.e. he got kicked out of ps?
Hs'ing is a wonderful thing done for the right reasons and with the right attitudes (on the part of both kid and parent/gparent). However, if she's just ignoring the real problem, it's a disaster waiting to happen.

I don't know if he got kicked out of ps or not. She said he had difficulties with it. Apparently he was mostly ditching school through freshman year. He is not academically inclined...likes to play guitar and skateboard. Not a reader at all and no academic interests.
Sadly, I've seen this situation as a disaster waiting to happen for the last 12 years....but you can only say so much. And since I have no children myself....
But it scares me. My nephew was a screw-up through grade school because my sister taught at his school and made things easy for him, down to doing his homework. He did badly in high school and graduated late. The thing that got him on the right track was four years in the Army...where he learned discipline. Fortunately, he is out and spent the entire time after basic training at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii.
