| Adobe Audition experts: I need your help! |
|
I've got a large WAV file, about 2 hours, 30 minutes. I want to gradually change the speed so that at the beginning, it's running 4.3% faster, but by the end, it's only running 3.3% faster. I get the feeling I use the "stretch" effect, but I can't make heads or tails of it. HELP!

| 1. I haven't done such a thing myself |

but I do believe that "stretch" IS what you want. try this: in the "stretch" dialog, click on the "gliding stretch" tab, then, under "ratio" enter 104.3 in the upper box and 103.3 in the lower box.

| 2. That's what I tried, but when I played the preview, it didn't come out. |
|
I've got a reference for the pitch, but it didn't seem to want to start there with those settings, at least not in preview mode.

| 3. so you do want the pitch to change also? |
|
and you want it to play faster?
then try checking off "resample" in the lower left.
As for the preview function, it's been my impression that either I don't completely understand it or that it's a bit flakey.

| 4. Yep. Checked "resample" too. |
|
:) Dang. Perhaps I'll just apply those settings and let it run while I'm asleep. See what happens.

or try the pitch bender. I think it's pretty much the same end result as resampled gliding stretch, but the interface is different and who knows how it might be different "under the hood"

| 9. It looks like pitch bender is the one! |
|
Of course, I now have to figure out my beginning and ending semitones, but I believe that will do the trick. Thanks!

I know that Adobe bought out someone/thing else, and renamed it.

| 12. yes, I believe it is. Syntrillium sold Cool Edit Pro to Adobe and it |
|
became Audition. I have an old version of Cool Edit 96. It's easier to work with if you aren't multitracking. If you want to mix things though, I would recommend Cool Edit Pro/Audition. Although, I have to add that I haven't been able to buy Audition, I did try a demo of Cool Edit Pro. If I could afford it, it's the one I would want for being easy to work with.
