Poll question: If you had to choose...

Every once in a while, I have to come up with some sort of shortish term purchasing goal to keep me disciplined in my spending and give some incentive to save more, pay off credit cards etc. I've got some nice guitars, but I really want a premium model...something that has possible heirloom quality.

I don't have any Gibsons, so I thought this might be a good goal to save up to. Contingent on this purchase is that I'm carrying no balances and have reached other concurrent savings/investment goals I've laid out for myself (the guitar is the motivation/reward to get all of that squared up).

So, I'm considering a year long savings effort for the possibilities noted in the poll. Which direction would you go? I have played all the models named, and found each of them great in terms of tone and playability

*Note: I do not currently own an acoustic, so this would make some sense...but I've never really been an "acoustic" guy anyway....

4. vintage Gibson ES-175 with the single P-90 pick-up at the neck

Circa early 1950's, I could have bought one of these back in the early 1970's for $500 at a music store, in outstanding condition. Instead, I bought an insanely good early 60's ES-335 with a super-wide neck that had great action and playability. But the vintage ES-175 that I let get away has always haunted me, because it too had a wonderful neck and feel. And the tone from that single P-90 in the neck was great for jazz. It depends on what kind of playing you do, if you are intending on buying the guitar to play. If you're buying the guitar as an investment only, then I'm sorry but you are the enemy of all that is decent in this world (just kidding).
