| Zoom MRS802B Eight Track digital recorder |

My brother wants to buy the above described digital 8 trac. Will it allow hook up to powered monitors, so that he can listen to his tracks ( for recording and mix down) without using headphones at all. He already has the monitors. Thanks

Sure, you can hook it up to powered monitors via a couple of RCA jacks.
And although, I'm generally pleased with it...sounds great, has really good guitar FX, etc...it's lacking in a couple of areas..namely:
There's no "Undo" button like there usually is on other recorders/recording software.
I'd still recommend it though. It's at least robust.

and even though its not the same unit yes you can playback without phones. I took a 9' cable and connected it to the axillary input on my stereo. I had to buy a couple of 1/4 inch adapters to go from male RCA to male 1/4" "phone jacks" on the unit. The cool thing is you can unplug from the stereo and carry the unit with you to record somewhere else. When you get back home you can simply plug it back in to the stereo or whatever device you use for amplification. Once you have one of these units you will never be without one again.

to all... I will tell my brother. He's a good solo artist and needs something to get tracks down.....He's older and NOT into computers. So he can just plug his monitors into the machine and go for it...
