| Mic Question: So my brother bought the ZoomMRS8 etc |
|
8 track recorder. Thanks for your input. What type of mic should I get him as a gift? I know his mic is crap. I want to get him a good one to capture a nice sound. He mics his acoustic guitar a lot. I know that much. He also uses my niece to sing at times.

| 1. If The Unit Is Phantom Powered, . . . |

and he's using it for acoustic and voice, you might want to look into an affordable condenser mic. I've got a few, and i really like the Audio Technica i have. Now, i had an upper limit i was willing to spend on it, but had i not already set the limit, i might have gone up to a bit over $450 and gotten the model with the variable filter to change the pattern. That would be really cool for using it for voice, guitar, close or at a distance.
I've got a couple others that are even cheaper and they're pretty good for the money. But, if the Zoom doesn't have phantom power, that adds a lot to the purchase of the mike, since you'll need a separate power supply/preamp. If you don't want to spend that, then you'll need to buy a good dynamic mic. Personally, i've always liked Beyer and Sennheiser. They are pretty transparent and can take a beating. The Professor
