I was using 12's and couldn't get any kind of a full sound no matter which set I used.
I just picked up some 2's and 7's. They're not so heavy they'd damage the sensors, right?

. . . as those on the pressure sensitive weighted keyboards. And i've had those for years and never had a sensor go bad, no matter how hard i hit them. I know i don't hit as hard with fingers as a drumstick, but i'd be quite shocked if the drum pads weren't designed to take an awful lot of force. The sensors definitely are. The Professor

It's likely that there is a way to adjust the pads' sensitivity to make them more responsive to lighter strokes.
