I Bought A New Tuner Yesterday

I bought the top of the line Korg tuner. Accurate to within 0.2 cents at all frequencies between 20 and 15,000 Hz. Also, has controllable filters to reduce the overtone interference on low frequency signals. (Especially like the 5th string on a 5 string bass.)

Since my friends and i do so much regulation and intonation work (sort of a hobby within a hobby), this will make things much more accurate and much quicker.

Not the most exciting purchase, but i'm psyched. It's on order and i should have it within a couple days.

1. I hate to see your thread dropping... I'll be interested in hearing about

the tuner when you get it. I use the little jobbie that clamps on a bridge or a headstock, and will "learn" a pitch (when you've got an out-of-tune piano on the job.) It cost only about 50 bucks, but it works great on any instrument.

2. 20 Hz is pretty good

i believe the low B on a bass is around 30 Hz. my low-end korg sometimes has trouble tuning it. how much did this one run you?

3. A Little Under $300.

The low end is exactly what i bought it for! The other two pocket tuners (a Fender and a Seiko, also around $40 or $50) will stay in the cases. This is for the bass, and is for the tuning and regulating we do.

Also, there's a rack space built into my amp (Fender Bassman 400), so if want to, i can just slip it in there for a gig. There's a mute button on the amp which mutes everything but the signal to the tuner, so you can quickly tune quietly. Really cool!

But, mostly it will stay at home.

4. Picking Up My Tuner Today

They called last night and said it was in. (I ordered from a small family owned music store. I buy stuff from them unless, A) They just don't have the franchise, and i want something specific (like my Ibanez or Boogie), or; B) It's fairly big ticket (like my Ibanez or Boogie!) and the difference in price is too large.

In this case i could have saved $40 on-line or at Sam Ash or something. But, those are >1 hour away, so i figure my personal time is worth more to me than $20 per hour. And, i can patronize a local, family owned business.

They've been good to me and got this in in about a week. Not bad.

Anyway, tonight seems like it might be an intonation and regulation kind of night!
