Since Al Gore's organization has finally come out and asked the Draft Gore movements to step down, there will be a lot of people looking for a new candidate. Many of those people will probably choose Edwards, whom I like very much. What I'd like to know is, how much effect will the probable end of the Draft Gore movement have on the Edwards campaign? Do you think it will pick up a lot of supporters? Do you expect to see a bump in the polls? And, do you have any other reasons to think that the Edwards campaign will be picking up steam in the weeks ahead? I for one think that Hillary is going to fall suddenly and fast, fairly soon. How do you think that will effect Edwards and/or Obama and/or other candidates? Thanks in advance for your input.

1. Hi Andrea. Well Gore endorsed Dean in 04, and it didn't give Dean the boost he
needed.

Having said that, now in 07, a more seasoned and respected Gore might be able to boost a candidate's standings with his endorsement.

But, gee I hate to even speculate. And for some reason, I am not getting the sense that Gore will be endorsing anyone at all.

Yes, Edwards is making headway and his numbers in Iowa are getting stronger.

Right now, Thursday's debate might prove to be more interesting than most think.....I look for Edwards to win a 3rd time.

2. Let's just hope...
... some of those Draft Gore folks are Iowa caucus-goers! John could be helped very, very much if that were the case.

3. Since Edwards won the endorsement of the Friends of Earth, I've
noticed a lot of serious Gore supporters taking a second look at John's positions on the environment :) Which is certainly encouraging for the campaign and the future !

5. Thanks to those who have posted here
Just to clarify, I wasn't thinking in terms of Al Gore endorsing John Edwards, or anyone, I was just thinking of the natural migration of disappointed Gore supporters. Edwards is much like Gore in many ways, although I wish he would speak out more forcefully on the damage that has been done to our constitution and the need to repair it. That is where Dodd excels. I was a big backer of Edwards in 2004. I really like him. I'm trying to figure out which candidate to declare for when I run for convention delegate next month. The two I like the best are Edwards and Dodd, but I'm concerned whether either can win the nomination. Obviously Edwards is much closer to winning it than Dodd. Of the two front-runners, there is no way I could support Hillary, but might support Obama, although clearly it would be because he had a chance to beat Hillary and not because I think he's the best candidate. I'd love to see or hear some indication that Edwards is more in the race than he seems right now. That would make my choice easier.

6. Thanks for the incentive to keep posting the EENR's......
(see my recent threads in this forum with EENR in the subject line). I guarantee it will help inspire you ! Very nice people who Believe :loveya:

BTW, see the article I just posted in this forum....thread titled John Edwards, ESQ. from Oct 2001...he was Gore's next choice after Lieberman for VP in 2000, and other neat stuff from his Senate years.

Oh, and the biggest party is always at : http://blog.johnedwards.com/

Obama's a great guy, wouldn't he make a great VP to Edwards, then run for President in 2016, and still only be in his sixties in 2024 at the end of his second term in '24 !?

The only winning ticket in '08 ... Edwards/Obama...!

7. Thank you so much for your thoughtful post.
Speaking only for myself, I'd love to have someone like you as an Edwards supporter. The reason I'm here is because Gore is not. My first dream ticket was: Gore/Edwards. Now it's: Edwards/Obama. I've liked JE since 04.

8. I think this will provide a boost for John
How much? I can't speculate. But I DO like the idea of Obama being John's running mate. What a team they would make! An E/O administration would do WONDERS for this nation's image and healing.
