is a conservative democrat, better than no democrat? What if that democrat was Black, would it be easier to swallow?
Quite frankly he scares me. But tell me how you feel.

Did you read that article about August Wilson in Time magazine, the one where he describes how a little of something is not always better than nothing? There isn't a conservative dem - color notwithstanding - who doesn't make me cringe and I find this handsome, well-spoken guy somewhat threatening.

Last night, the state senate passed the Ethics Bill. As far as Harold goes, he has been getting hated on the last year or so. I haven't seen him with the Congressional Black Caucus of late. I wouldn't say he is scary, but he seems to have turn conservative on some issues.

...opportunist. In other words, I don't think he has strong political convictions, other than being a politician. If the Liberals were running the show, he'd be preaching the value of Liberalism.

he would like to run for senator and he knows that in order to win in Tennessee he has to be as nonthreatening and follow the status quo as possible to get those southern white males to vote for him. I'm sure when he saw Obama he got physically sick.
As far as the CBC, he definitely can not be seen with them. He is not interested in Black interests but the interests of all Americans. Yeah right, WHATEVer!!!!
I wish someone with money would run against him for his congressional seat. He only got the seat because of daddy, if we would like to be honest. That brother need a wake up call!

it isn't favorable. We don't need another "dancing bear" shilling for the Man. Here's an article about him for The Black Commentator at http://www.blackcommentator.com/120/120_cover_harold_ford.html

Harold Ford Junior sails on the prevailing winds of politics and not from a core belief system. That would mean he would have to fight on behalf of something important (not his own political self interest.) From a southern state he is inclined to be conservative and if that is what will get him elected so be it for that state. However; that does not give him the right to believe that HOW he got elected is the way it should be everywhere. Ford has some DLC tendencies that really irk me...The Social Security sanfu he embarked on to assuage his seeming hand across the aisle to * to help forge a compromise is but one. Don't get me started...
