Obama to meet with black leaders about economy

WASHINGTON -- It's a light public day for President Barack Obama as Washington deals with its second snowstorm in less than a week.

In the morning, the president is scheduled to meet with black leaders in the Oval Office to talk about the economy and jobs. Among those expected to attend are Benjamin Jealous of the NAACP, Marc Morial of the National Urban League, the Rev. Al Sharpton of the National Action Network and Dr. Dorothy Height of the National Council of Negro Women.

Obama has no other public events scheduled.

1. Al Sharpton?!? Oh Lord...

Still a great idea and very much needed. I'd like to see Obama meet with members of black think tanks too like the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies.

2. I'd like to think he'd give this topic some serious

consideration, especially since the urban unemployment rate is 17% versus the national rate of 10 to 15. Intellectually, however, I have a pretty good idea what he's going to tell them. I would be surprised if this meeting lasted longer than thirty minutes.
