HONOLULU — A Kaneohe Marine has pleaded no contest to charges that he stole the identities of five fellow Marines and paid for meals and other items with credit cards he took out in their names.
Prosecutors say Marine Cpl. Daniel Alfieri’s victims were serving in Iraq when he stole their identities in the late summer of 2007.
Police say Alfieri obtained some of the Marines’ personal information by taking their mail. They say he also used a computer on base to access information.
In all, authorities say Alfieri stole more than $1,000 in cash and goods before military investigators caught wind of his activities.
Police have said he applied for more than a dozen credit cards under his victims’ names.
