AYER, Mass. — The Army is planning to spend up to $100 million to build a training facility at the site of the former Fort Devens military base in central Massachusetts.
Army spokesman Dave Foster tells The Sun of Lowell that the Armed Forces Reserve Center is expected to include three primary buildings totaling nearly 280,000 square feet on about 57 acres.
The project will be staffed by about 650 soldiers and Marines and include space to store nearly 800 military vehicles.
Foster says the project will cost between $50 million and $100 million and will be completed by July 2010.
