A retired lieutenant colonel pleaded guilty Tuesday for her role in a scheme to influence a multimillion dollar Defense Department contract in 2004 and 2005 at Camp Victory, Iraq, according to a Justice Department news release.
Levonda J. Selph, who lives in Virginia, pleaded guilty to two counts of bribery and conspiracy in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
According to a plea agreement, Selph will serve a jail sentence that will be determined by the court, cooperate in the government’s investigation and pay $9,000 in restitution to DoD.
In 2005, when Selph was a lieutenant colonel, she served as chairwoman of a selection board for an annual $12 million contract to build and operate several DoD warehouses in Iraq, according to the charges against her.
Selph accepted fraudulent bids from a co-conspirator contracting firm and helped that firm win the contract, according to the Justice Department. In return for her help, Selph accepted a vacation to Thailand and $4,000.
