CONCORD, N.H. — Rep. Paul Hodes, D-N.H., has asked the Defense Department to investigate the case of a Keene soldier not receiving the bonus pay he was promised.
Hodes said Spc. Kevin Steven Clark II understood he would receive an extra $400 a month for his willingness to be assigned to a combat unit.
Hodes said last year the Army decided Clark was ineligible for the incentive pay, and that Clark has been forced to pay back the extra money he had already been paid.
Hodes has written a letter to the Defense Secretary Robert Gates seeking restitution of the bonus pay.
Clark enlisted in 2005 and served a tour of duty in Iraq.
