15 officers disciplined over nuclear botches

The Air Force has administratively disciplined 15 officers — six generals and nine colonels — and the Army has similarly disciplined two of its generals over a mistaken August 2006 shipment of classified ballistic missile components to Taiwan.

While both the Air Force and Army actions are administrative in nature, the Air Force actions were far more serious.

The Air Force generals receiving administrative actions include:

* Lt. Gen. Kevin J. Sullivan, deputy chief of staff for logistics, installations and mission support, Air Force Headquarters;

* Lt. Gen. Michael A. Hamel, commander of the Space and Missile Systems Center;
