Sgt. Joseph Bozicevich, 39, of Minneapolis, was charged Oct. 2, with two counts of murder in the shooting deaths of two soldiers who were counseling him on Sept. 14 southwest of Baghdad.
Bozicevich allegedly killed his squad leader, Staff Sgt. Darris J. Dawson, 24, and fellow team leader, Sgt. Wesley R. Durbin, 26, with his M4 rifle at a joint security station in Jurf as Sakhr, about 15 miles south of Baghdad.
The soldiers were all from A Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division.
He is charged with two counts of murder and being held in pre-trial confinement near Fort Stewart, Ga., where the 3rd ID is headquartered.
Bozicevich served three years on active duty and 15 years in the Army Reserve. He had been assigned to Fort Stewart for 27 months and was on his second combat deployment, according to a Fort Stewart news release.
